One week ago, I collected a larvae from insect galls, which host is Castanopsis hystrix. Location: Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China.
I think it is the larvae of Diptera, Could you give me some suggestions?

As you might expect, it is a gall midge. I have no source to check the possible species based on the host.

Known host associations are listed in Gagne's catalog: http://www.ars.us...yiidae.pdf. I see nothing for any Castanopsis, but several species in Castanea. Many species and some genera of Cecidomyiidae are inquilines; the larva you find in a gall may not be the original creator.
