Hallo

Thats a 1cm long Machimus from a bavarian pond in Summer.
Is it possible to say more about it? I only have this photo.

Regarding the ovipositor i would agree with Machimus. Cant see enough for positive id species. You write that the creature is only 1 cm. But is seems larger compared with its prey the damsel. It looks rather big even.

Youre right with the length. The damsel is Ischnura elegans, with a length of 3cm. So, the Asilidae could be 2-2,5cm long.
