Lasiochaeta pubescens (Thalhammer, 1898), Chloropidae. until recently known in the genus Melanochaeta Bezzi, 1906, and earlier in Elachiptera [compare: Nartshuk & von Tschirnhaus (2012): Zootaxa 3267: 44-54]. Different from European Elachiptera spp. it does not possess well detectable warts at the edge and tip of the scutellum, the arista is less widened and not flattened, the scutum misses a course surface. The species, very abundant in the Mediteranean (also Egypt), is of interest as during the last years it dispersed to the north and reached Northern Germany and already the rock island Heligoland in the North Sea. Larvae develop in certain grasses.

I found this (very) old topic and I'm wondering:

is Lasiochaeta pubescens the same fly as Melanochaeta rufithorax?

In our system we have Melanochaeta pubescens, but is that another fly..?

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
