I can't figure out species either. It does not match any of the Chalcosyrphus from Ontario.

http://www.canaco...yrphus.htm

Southern New Hampshire has similar climate to southern Ontario and is not far away. Most species in New Hampshire would also be found somewhere in Ontario.

I'm confused because it seems to have pale bands (or large spots) on the abdomen, unlike most Chalcosyrphus.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
