Hello, I made this pictures on 10-09-2006 at Apeldoorn, Netherlands. In a area with wet grasslands near the river IJssel. Size of the fly 8-10 mm. I hope anyone helps me with the identification. Thanks in advance. Henk van Woerden. Henk van Woerden attached the following image: [122.12Kb] Edited by Henk van Woerden on 27-02-2007 11:57 |

Henk Sticking my neck out a bit here, but I think it might have a posterodorsal bristle on the hind tibia (just visible in the top photo only), so it could be Phaonia sp Susan |

Hmm... I think this combination of bristles is Helina sp. You need someone more expert than me for this one really.

Hello Susan, I'm afraid it is a so-called Muscidae spec. Thanks for your reactions. Henk van Woerden. |

Henk Well, just be thankful it's robust enough to look fairly definitely Muscid (and venation and facial bristles suggest Muscid) so it is not possible Muscidae/possible Anthomyiidae. Susan |
