Hello today I found on Helleborus foetidus and Eranthis hyemalis under a big tree a Scaeva with spots like S. dignota - or is it just S. selenica? I probably could make more fotos if necessary. Thanks for helping! Regards Maja dipdip attached the following image: [94.52Kb] Edited by dipdip on 19-02-2007 22:30 |

Hello Maja, It is indeed a female of Scaeva selenitica. I see them often very early in the year, sometimes in large numbers on blooming willow! Greetings, Greetings, Gerard Pennards |
