Hello dipterists I saw these two robberflies on Monday in Croatia - Island Rab. I think it can be Machimus setibarbus, but i want determination from some good dipterist. Both of them were big - ca 3 cm. Photo: Greetings, Martin |

Females are very hard (if possible at all) to determine from photgraphs. Top of all tibia is red that would exclude setibarbus which has entirely black legs. Can`t see the legs of the victim. I would say M. cf rusticus.
