Hello flyforum,

Is this a Suilla sp.?, what kind of...?

Typical:
- yellow on the base of the wings.
- black part on the femur.
- some dark crossveins(M-M).

Suggestions are welcome Pfft

No Robert, it is Scathophaga.
I think, that most probably S. inquinata.

To be honest, I find it difficult to see the difference between these species!?
I think I have to watch more of these flies and read some about the species.

At this moment I cannot look in the Dutch species account so I don't know if this fly occurs in The Netherlands..

It would be great if someone can confirm that this fly is Scathophaga inquinata?

1. Excuse me, I meaned Scathophaga lutaria! But as far as I understand the situation, it is difficult to be sure enought without collected specimen.
2. During my first year in Diptera I was in permanent despair because of my total incapablity to understand what is the difference between Scathophagidae and Sciomyzidae. Then, one day it became clear and simple...
