Hi,

Can anyone confirm this fly as Orthellia cornicina? - I have been reading Colyer and Hammond - Flies of the British Isles and their rough table/key shows metalic green frons and jowls as being Orthellia -

Only two British species (according to the book) with Orthellia cornicina being the most common.

But I am now un-sure of the next technical details - " no presutural acrostichal bristles " and "Four pairs of postsutural dorsocentrals" are these the bristles I can see on the front of the thorax ?

Or have I missed the mark (again).

Regards Chas

Hello Chas,

you con find Orthellia cornicina in the diptera.info gallery as Neomyia cornicina.

I cannot make a statement if your fly is the same species, though.
