I think it is Empis sp. I like this family so much!

Hi!

Nice photo. Could you tell us a bit about the equipment and techniques you use? Are these photos takes in the field, or do you take the animals home and photograph them in a container?

The female is feeding on a small Anthomyiid fly. Could well be genus Delia.

And the dance fly is indeed Empis, presumable E. livida.

Thank you, Kahis.
1. All images from the field. Nothing special in technique, Canon D10, lens 50/1,8 Sigma-macro, 100/2,8 Canon-macro, 70-300/5,6 Sigma-macro, sometimes flesh, sometimes additional macrorings 12 or 24mm. As a tripod I use small table (much faster than real tripod), sometimes from barehand as this pic with Empididae (one out of 15 copies is sharp enought). The only know-how - is spend an hours waiting for second...
2. Thank you for "gift" identification". Is it the same fly as in my request "fly about 3-4mm" on this page of forum

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
