Hi, I've not seen this one before,please could anyone tell me what it might be? It was found briefly sat on a log in the sun today,on the sussex downs UK,with meadow,stream and mixed wood nearby. I cant remember the zoom setting i used,so cant give an exact size,but small,maybe 2mm.I didnt have my flash so had to do my best without it today. I had a look in the diptera gallery and in a few other online pic collections,but couldnt find one like it. many thanks  |

this is not a dipter but a bark lice. |

aahh ...that'll probably be why i couldnt find a fly like it oh well ...thankyou for the id anyway. funny looking bark lice compared to the winged one i usually see,i'd best go and try to find some more uk bark lice pics |

I wouldn't call this a bark louse (as far as I know bark lice are Psocoptera). I think this specimen belongs to the family Triozidae (Homoptera: Psylloidea). Jan Willem |
