Taken in tablas de Daimiel National Park, C Spain. Sitting on the shoe of a friend on the 15th April 2012. Habitat is stony shot grassy ground near lagoons. It looks different to any Asilid I have ever seen. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. Piluca_Alvarez attached the following image: [172.64Kb] Edited by Piluca_Alvarez on 19-04-2012 14:32 |

Thanks a lot, Reinoud!! Could you confirm that this other specimen found in the same area on the following day is also Dysmachus trigonus? I think it is but I prefer to have the opinion of an expert Piluca_Alvarez attached the following image: [172.92Kb] Edited by Piluca_Alvarez on 19-04-2012 14:39 |

Yes it is Dysmachus cf trigonus. I have added the cf because many bristles on thorax and legs are reddish they are usually more white. Shape of ovipositor is tipical for D. trigonus.
