Hello Reinoud, I try to get the new names of Asilidae in our Dutch species system www.waarneming.nl Is it correct to change: * Machimus atricapillus to: Tolmerus atricapillus (Fallén, 1814) * Machimus cingulatus to: Tolmerus cingulatus (Fabricius, 1781) * Paritamus geniculatus to: Neomochtherus geniculatus (Meigen, 1820) Regards, Hedy |

Hello Hedy, I reacted also on waarneming.nl. I have had this discussion here before and also mentioned it on w.nl before. I think it is a matter for the Dutch scientists who maintain het Soortenregister. As far as i know only the Dutch and Brits still use the "old" names. So it is Soortenregister vs Fauna Europaea. I think no one in Holland has studied the new insights yet and agreed on the matter. I haven't found the article yet in which the change of genus is argued. For observado.org i think it would be wise to use Fauna Europaea as basis. Waarneming is based on Soortenregister. For now i think we have to live with it Greetings, Reinoud Field guide to the robber flies of the Netherlands and Belgium: https://www.jeugdbondsuitgeverij.nl/product/field-guide-to-the-robberflies-of-the-netherlands-and-belgium/ https://www.nev.nl/diptera/ |
