I photographed quite a lot of C. vicina around our house lately. Today I photographed this one and I wonder if this fly could be C. vomitoria (or perhaps C. loewi?). It seems to have a reddish beard. Also, the red spot between the eyes puzzles me, as none of the vicina I photographed has it. I read several forum topics about the two, but I still cannot be sure. The anterior spiracle is an important character, but I have no idea what that is , let alone if it can be seen in these photographs. Thanks in advance for your help! Thanks for confirmation Nikita! Could you perhaps point out the anterior spiracle to me? (Or someone else).

I've just came across the photo of Calliphora looks like vicina, with anterior spiracles clearly visible to the right from the eyes: http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/cat/572/display/1630592 There are some other amazing photos of flies and other insects in that gallery too Andrius |
