Location: Hungary Date: 2006-07-12 Size: 10-12 mm Habitat: On the wall of my house After I had came home I saw these flies thronging on the wall. I think so, this looks exaclty like the males of C. vicina that I observed in Hungary. Though the top view is not the best, you should always attempt to do a lateral shot at all flies, particularly if it is a Calyptrate fly. Lateral view is more informative for Calliphora sp.

Hint of red "cheek/jowl" face character of vicina. Compare with the dark, almost black "cheek/jowl" of vomitoria - see the faces in the gallery![]() ![]() ![]() Robert Edited by Robert Nash on 09-12-2006 17:11 |
