Hi, Syrphid-lovers! Here I have an Epistrophe but I have no idea which species it is. Any suggestion? The picture was taken in Oviedo outskirts, N Spain, in May this year. Any kind of help will be highly appreciated. Cheers! Marian attached the following image: [122.41Kb] Edited by Marian on 14-09-2011 21:32 |

This is Epistrophe eligans var. trifasciata. Most of the Iberian specimens of E. eligans belong to this variety. This variety has many many times been mis-identified on the peninsula! |
