August 25, 2011, env. of Naro-Fominsk, Moscow region, Russia. On a leaf of Sonchus oleraceus over a small stream near its confluence with the Nara River. Size slightly less than 8 mm.

Spectacular photos, Dima. Any chance to collect for me some these Oxycera? I only saw Oxycera rara and Oxycera varipes so far. |

This is the first Oxycera I've ever seen in nature Jorge and it was by sheer chance I spotted it for I came for additional shots of some limoniids which were pretty abundant there. |

Here's a reply I got from Dr. Rudolf Rozkosny: Your image represent a typical form of Oxycera falleni. It is true that the colour of legs is somewhat variable but all specimens known from our country possess the same leg colour as your female. Especially the females from southern Europe may have legs entirely yellow. |
