In van Emden's RES Muscidae Handbook, the Lucilia key, couplet 5(8), refers to blackish setulae on the subcostal sclerite. The only such hairs I can see on my specimens are on the underside (am looking at the extreme base of the subcosta). Is that what’s meant? Or should I be using a more uptodate key?

Many thanks
Malcolm

I'd opt for Rognes' key in Fauna Entomologica Scandinavica...
