...but I can't seem to find what this could be. Rather large fly (10-15mm?) visiting flowers (goldenrud etc) on an unused patch of land of business park "Boeldershoek" near Hengelo (Overijssel) in the Netherlands. Hi Arp This is quite OK to ask stupid questions. As my teacher used to say: you learn the most by asking stupid questions. Your fly is Cynomyia mortuorum (Calliphoridae), dutch: Lijkenvlieg Unmistakeble indeed (they come in green as well) Theo Zeegers |

Thanks Theo, It's just amazing how much easier it is to find matching pictures once you have name Unbecomming name btw, for the easy-going flower-visiting critter it appeared to be that day. Thanks again Arp |
