This specimen was found sweeping a net through the aquatic vegetation (and perhaps also vegetation growing on its bank) of a slow to fairly fast flowing canal, rich in aquatic weeds (mostly Elodea nuttallii). It appears as having no wings, but it seems as having some sort of attachment-points were they could have been. Collected 1 km North of Brielle at the southside of the Brielse Meer, province of Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands at May 10, 2010. I have no experience with Hymenoptera whatsoever, but I know that there are a few aquatic Hymenoptera. thanks for the ID I guess that this would make it non-aquatic. You can use the photo's and if you like you can even get the specimen. I do hardly collect and keep terrestrial species in my collection. Ton (aka atylotus) |
