Hello,

this photo is from last july from the alps in Switzerland from about 1500m height. Because of the wings I even can't guess the family. Muscidae? Syrphidae perhaps?

Can anything be said about this fly? Length was about 9mm.

It's a Cheilosia, but not variabilis. In that species the hairs on the tergites are all pale, whereas in this specimen they are partly black. There are several black-legged species in the Alps, I don't know which one this is...
