Hi, If possible,could anyone please help me with this. I thought it looked a bit similar in size and shape to the Eristalis arbustorum i had id'd for me here a while back. West Sussex,downland with meadow,trees and stream. thanks. fleabag attached the following image: [45.55Kb] |

You're on the right track; it is Eristalis tenax (Syrphidae).
