I found this strange behaviour (for me) in my pictures of July 17 2010, shot in Loire-atlantique, western France, in a meadow by a cloudy day.

It seems that the fly (a Dolichopodidae ?) was interested by the snail, came softly towards it and then fed on its "dribble".

is it usual behaviour for flies or Dolichopodidae ?

Sometimes Poecilobothrus lick aphid honeydew; here they taste snail slime.
