Or thrips  Actually looks like Limothrips cerealium (but I don't think I can say that with any certainty!  )

Hi Nikita Please don't quote me on that identification! Limothrips just happens to be a common black thrips that is often around at this time of year, and most of the ones I catch prove to be this species. In fact, looking more carefully, I think the legs on your thrips are too long, so I retract my former identification and will simply say Thysanoptera - a thrips. It's interesting that Medetera can quickly turn a thrips into such an unrecognisable thing as in photo 3. If I had not seen the first two images, I couldn't have begun to guess what the prey might be!

Thank you Tony. 1. OK, let it be Thrips vulgaris! 2. The distance between 1-st and 3-d image is 2 min. But shapeless black thing on 3-d image isn't thrips! It is full of thrips enlarged Medetera's mouth! Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
