Can someone provide some information on the system of leg/det/col coordinates? I think det is the person who identified the specimen and col the owner of the collection in which the specimen is kept, but what does the leg stand for and is there any regulation on the use of these abbreviations? Thanks in advance! |

Col: better is coll. = collectio (owner of collection). Det = determinavit (name of person who identified). Leg./Lgt.= legit (person who took the specimen from the nature). Different journals require different abbreviation for leg./lgt., while det. and coll. are not used in other abbreviation. Libor |
