There are some Syrphidae (I think ) from Moscow region. Episyrphus balteatus? Sphaerophoria scripta? Edited by Double A on 31-08-2006 13:41 |

Top photo definitely male Episyrphus balteatus - the most commonly recorded hoverfly in the UK, and I suspect many other places as well. The bottom two are male Sphaerophoria scripta - at least S scripta is the only Sphaerophoria in the UK in which the abdomen of the male is significantly longer than its wings, making it easy to ID. Not sure if it is unique in this elsewhere, but I think so. Susan |
