 Agelenidae (funnel-web spiders) from Belgium (5 species, 7 pictures)

While I was moving some planks in my garden, Kapellen, Belgium, I found several funnel-web spiders (Agelenidae). As I lack the equipment to look at the genitals, I can only guess the species. I hope one of you (Juergen?) can confirm or correct my ID's, based on the general appearance of the spiders. Many thanks in advance! Hi, Jeroen! Spider 1 is either Malthonica (ex-Tegenaria) silvestris or a juvenile Malthonica (ex-Tegenaria) ferruginea. Depends on whether it was found in a forest under a stone/wood log etc. or in or at a building. So is spider 5, but more tending to M. ferruginea. Spiders 2 and 4 are clearly Tegenaria atrica (unbanded legs). Spider 3 is no Agelenid, it's a juvenile Segestria bavarica (Segestriidae). About spiders 2 and 4: Kevin Lambeets (spider admin at Waarnemingen.be) sent me a message. He told me that T. saeva (very similar to T. atrica) has been discovered in Belgium. Hence, he advised to change the species to Tegenaria spec. Any comments on this? |
