Hello! I think the same fly was recently featured here: http://www.dipter...ad_id=3070 Does my fly (watched several of them yesterday and the day before here in Germany on umbelliferous flowers) belong to this species, too? It was about 10-12 mm long. Thanks! Hi Juergen. I can't give you positive reply, but I think I can negative. There isn't strong descending frontal bristles, neither vertical apical bristles on scutellum, so it isn't Exorista. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Looks more like Linnaemyia, due to the: large size, hairy eyes, no facial-ridge bristles, pale face colour and protruding mouth edge.  |

Hard to say for sure without seeing its face but it does have the dense hair on the eyes and the dusting & bristles seem similar.  |
