Hello, My first experience with such a small Conopid (about 3 mm). He (or she ??) only seemed to visit Convolvulus, last week, near Heerlen (Kunderberg). It should be a Thecophora sp., is it possible to be more specific ? Ben Ben Hamers attached the following image: [43.79Kb] Edited by Ben Hamers on 21-05-2012 21:31 |

Hi Ben, Using the key of Mark van Veen http://home.hccne...phora.html, my guess would be T. melanopa, taking in account the size and the colour of femur 3. However an opinion of someone who actually knows the species would be better! Jan Willem |

(Most) Thecophora can only be ID'ed reliable by the shape of the female theca, in my experience. The colouration of the legs in correct on average only. However, Jens-Hermann Stuke is the expert, maybe he can do better. Theo Zeegers |
