Hi flyforum, This (male)fly I found last month in the Amsterdam Woodforest. I give some characteristics: - Yellow braun shining around costa in the wing - arista got branchy fethers - face is (very) white - 2nd + 3rd segment is yellow banded - The alula is yellow/orange coloured - DM -CU got a nice wave curve - The katepisternum (underbody) is whitish - dark glossy scutem - legs dark, tibia a bit dark braun/red, 1st femur got white parts The wing tells me it is a kind of muscidae, but I am not sure. greeting robert Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: [92.04Kb] Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 11-08-2006 02:46 |

Robert It crosses my mind that this is Anthomyidae. Something about the bristles on the mid tibia - but I am doing this from memory, so will probably be wrong again, especially as I am really rubbish on bristles. Susan |

Thank you for your reaction Susan. It is hard to see some crucial characteristics to be more sure.. I think it is more Fanniidae than Anthomyidae.., R4 + 5 vein is more straight line with a tiny curve.. It is a pitty we can not see vein A1 + A2... Is the yellowish of the veins on the forside of the wing not something for Fannia canicularis?? robert, Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: [109.11Kb] Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 16-08-2006 00:18 |
