I photographed the attached on 8/8/06 in South East England and I am attempting to identify the family.

Whilst doing so it dawned on me, Shock am I looking at the correct features ?

I have circled and put a square around what I identify as :-

1. Fan of hypopleural bristles.
2. Post-humeral and presutural.

Perhaps someone could assist and let me know whether I have it right or not.

Many thanks
Gordon

P.S. if you know what the fly is that would help as wellSmile

Until I find time to do it here for the Glossary, check here http://www.dipter...p?cat_id=9. Make sure you use the fly picture (not the gnat). To locate the hypopleuron, look for meron.
