Another Anthomyzidae, 01.08.2006

Yesterday I was lucky enough to collect 3 more specimens of Anthomyzidae in Ozhigovo, and one of these flies looked new to me. It was kindly identified by Dr. Jindrich Rohacek.

Stiphrosoma cingulatum (Haliday, 1855). It is already known from Moscow area (Izmailovo) but it is an infrequent species living in
swampy areas near ground among large Carex, Scirpus, Phragmites etc.


Size around 2mm.

Well there is an ongoing conversation and at least I learned a lot of new and interesting stuff - thanks a lot for this contact again Jan.
