 [Cimbicidae] Abia candens

From midwest Sweden in july 2006. I'm pretty sure this belongs to Cimbicidae, maybe even Trichiosoma tibiale. Can anyone confirm this or suggest another species!? TIA!

Another shot. I don't think this is Trichiosoma. They seems to be too hairy. Now I'm closer to Abia. I have yet so see a photo of such a black one. As I understand it, none of the Cimbicidae species is very common.

My guess would be Abia because I caught something very similar here in England a few weeks ago, with clubbed antennaeand gold/green metallic colouration. That keyed out to Abia sericea, but of course there and a few similar species!  |

Sometimes I wish I did collect species ... Cimbicidae expert Andreas Taeger was kind enough to look at the photos of the Abia. He wrote: "... according to the figures this is very likely Abia candens (Konow 1887); according to our files (which are surely incomplete) this is a new record for Sweden. To be completely sure, a pinned specimen would be helpful". I hope A. Taeger don't mind me quoting him on this ... |
