Hi Jane, this is a female Neoitamus spec. If the picture had been taken in Central Europe, I would say: no further ID to species level possible. In your case only two species are known to occur in Great Britain: N. cyanurus and N. cothurnatus. Because only N. cyanurus has been recorded from Scotland until now (and because the front metatarsus is mainly black) there are good reasons to call this a female N. cyanrus. Greetings, Danny |
