Size 6-6.5mm.
I think it has postscutellum, or maybe I'm wrong again?...

Looks like a tachinid - with lovely, huge eyes like a Carcelia or Thelaira... does it have a plumose arista? Smile I also like the red mite Smile

Hmm, in that case it needs keying properly I think - and I am pretty sure it isn't a species on the UK list. Can you give us a clearer dorsal view - of the thorax and abdomen? Smile

this one puzzled me for quite a while, though it did ring a bell.
Reason: although it looks ordinary, it is a Phasiinae.
Eulabidogaster setifacies, to be precise.

If you take a very close look, you can see the reclinate orbital setae.
