Found this minute fly at Scatsta Airport this evening. It is/was (sadly deceased) 2mm in length and a real pain to photograph live...afraid I put it in the freezer slightly too long.... oops. Anyway I've looked through the Gallery and think this might be Ephydridae Limnellia quadrata....who can tell me if I am right/wrong?

Hi Juergen The Limnellia quadrata bit was easy,(from the photo's in the Gallery) it's sussing out the family it belonged to in the first place. It would be handy for beginners like me if the size of the fly was included in the Gallery pics,(I didn't add it to my couple there ) save trawling Wikipedia or the like for info. Regards Roger |
