 Green and blue flies

I remember that I once read something about blue and green flies being male and female of the same species. But I can not find it again. And I don't remember if it was vor Calliphoridae or for Muscidae. Does someone know something about that or does know where I can get this information?  I know, it it is difficult to understand... I will try to explain it again.While I was trying to identify these green and blue flies I found last year, I searched a lot in the internet. Once I read an article or something, where it was explained that in one species the males are (mainly?) blue(or green), while the females are (mainly?)green (or blue). The problem is that I don't remember if this article treated a calliphorid species or a muscid species. I am still searching for this article or this website. is this easier to understand? Hi Nadine In Cynomya mortuorum, females and males can be different colours, some green, some blue, but I'm not sure whether this is anything more than individual variation. Among the Stratiomyiidae, male Chloromyia formosa have a golden-green abdomen, while that of the female is blue-green. Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |
