Hello!

Helga Becker asked me to post this fly here. It was "perforating" the Red Campion flower leaves in June 2007 in central Germany. I thought of Agromyzidae, but I am not even sure of the family...

This is probably Ophiomyia (Agromyzidae).
On Siline feeds two species Ophiomyia:
O. melandricaulis Hering 1943, the larva forming shallow external stem-mine.
O. melandryi de Meijere, 1924, the larva forming a shalow mine inside the hollow stem.

Thanks! But maybe the fly only feeds on the Silene (perforating the flower leaves and then spotting the extravasating juice) not necessarily being its hostplant. Dr. M. von Tschirnhaus wrote me an email and thinks, this is Agromyza sp.. His complete considerations can be read here (in German...): http://insektenfo...#post92941
Best regards,
Jürgen
