I'm not sure this even is diptera, but I'm sure Paul Beuk will move the thread accordingly. It is pretty large and this is the only angle I got, I think. Is it possible to get an ID? Here is another one. I doubt if it is same species, but it resembles it. It is from midwest Sweden in may 2006 (two weeks before the first one).

Hi Crex. Paul has no reasons to move your image, it is 100% Diptera. I dare say what I think. I can see only one A vein. If so, it is Ptychptera sp., Ptychopteridae. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
