Dinera carinifrons - Tachinidae from Pirineos

Member Location: Viseu - PORTUGAL Posts: 9296 Joined: 05.06.06	Hi I was in Zaragoza in final August 2008. I went to the Pirineos with my friend Isidro to spot rare beauties. Unfortunately there was a storm after one hour of field trip, and we could have just only a glimpse of the richness in PLAN - Pirineos. But the few minutes we had there were gold. We spot the rare Halidaya aurea - another tachinid. We also spot the Stylogymnomyia nitens. And a beautiful symphyt wasp on Daucus carota, and other stuff. This is, I think, a Dexiosoma cf. caninum (Tachinidae). Maybe Theo or CHris or Jaako can confirm.. or not... Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 28-12-2008 19:01

Member Location: Soest, NL Posts: 19310 Joined: 21.07.04	It is not Dexiosoma, nor Dexia nor Estheria (nor Zeuxia, for that matter). The abdomen has blackish sublateral spots, often seen in Billaea. Or it might be Dinera carinifrons. Need to check my collection. Theo
