A friendly Hello to this forum! I just registered to this site because one of your members has recommeded it. It really seems to be a great site for those who are interested in diptera. A brief introduction of myself: My name is Sabine Flechtmann, 52 years old and living in the northern suburbs of Hamburg/Germany. I always loved to take photos of insects, but since I got my new digital camera, I am about to dive deeper into entomology. I am non-professional and not really familiar with taxonomy, but always interested and willing to learn. So, here is my first question: the attached photo of a fly has been pre-determed as a member of Tachinidae family. In the photo gallery I found one sample determined as "Billaea triangulifera". My photo was taken on September 9, 2008 on Wurmberg (low mountain range in Lower Saxony/Germany) at 800 msm, the fly was max. 10 mm long and sat on Achillea millefolium. Can anybody confirm or revise Billaea triangulifera? Your comments will be highly appreciated and thanks a lot in advance for your help!
