Hello I photographied this Syrphid last June, 14th at East Angus, Quebec (near Vermont). I think it is in both case a female Sericomyia chrysotoxoides... Am I right? Any idea othewise??? Thanks again! Michel Mes Parcours Nature: http://parcours.p...   |

I'm not familiar with New World syrphids, but it's certainly Sericomyia species - looks very similar to the European S silentis, which does not have such emphatic golden hairs.
