 This unfortunate fly belongs to the empidid genus Empis.

 Thanks. Large branch is R4+5 fork, not R4+5 - R2+3 fork as I thought. Correct?

 The fly is unfortunate because it has been killed by an Entomophthora fungus.
The visible fork is the small R4+5, quite close to the wing tip, the fork between the larger veins is much more basal.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
