Good evening together,

at the 29th of July I found this larva in my garden in West Germany. It was in the pond but I think it did not belong to the water. Is it possible to determine it?

I think it is Diptera, and I would guess Tabanidae. What size was it?

Hi Tony,

I'm not sure, it's a long time ago, but it was not small. First I thought on a little Tipulidae. About 15 mm?
Friendly regards

Wish you all a Happy New Jear, with a lot of health, luck, happiness and a lot of little animals Wink

By the way I push my larvae up, with hope of a answer.

And a Happy New Year to you, Kirsten! Smile
I still think this is a tabanid larva, but the only way to be sure may be to rear it.

Thank u very much Tony, yes, from time to time I have some in the garden, but they are very few here (thank God). Sorry, but for rearing it's a little late Wink In that time all my boxes were full.
Friendly regards

Kirsten
