Hoi Ben, Yes, they are both hoverflies (Syrphidae) The first photo is a male of (most probably) Paragus haemorrhous. It is normally not possible to identify species of this genus from photo, for correct identification you need to look at their genitalia! However, the mentioned species is the most common, so I think it is just that one! The second picture shows a female of Neoascia podagrica. Also the most common member of the genus.
