Yes, I know. Robberflies from Spain can not be usually resolved. But maybe with this one an ID is possible...

Puigcerd?, Lleida, NE corner of Spain. Last Saturday. Smaller than most Laphrias, size as a Choerades or similar. Habitat: swampy field with a sea of Phragmites australis and fields of Medicago sativa, also some patches of river forest.

Can be identified?
Thanks.

No, not by me. There are different groups in the genus Choerades. Your specimen seems to belong to the Ch. marginata-group. Identification to species level by the mean of a picture is impossible in this group in most cases.

And if I put here the short list of Iberian species of the genus?

Only Ch. dioctriaeformis, Ch. fuliginosa, Ch. gilva and Ch. marginata... This one could be Choerades marginata?

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
