Location: SE Sweden (?land) Date: 2008-AUG-23 Size: ~4,5 mm I only got a couple of shots of this rather small fly that came to an outdoor lamp at night. I first thought of Sciomyzidae, but looking at it closer I'm wondering about Opomyzidae or Heleomyzidae ... crex attached the following image: ![]() [131.94Kb] Edited by crex on 26-08-2008 14:38 |

Sciomyzidae. I think it's Pherbellia cinerella.

Thank you Stephane! I understand it can't be easy when checking the Pherbellia genus in Artportalen and I'm finding 22 species ... |

Is it safe to report this as Pherbellia cinerella or should I keep the question mark? |

As Stephane, I also think it is Ph.cinerella. Still there are some doubts - forelegs too glossy black (have to be brown-blackish). I suspect that it is due to overcontrasting image - the result of white wall as background. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
