HI,
I found this butterfly near seaside in Liguria (Italy) this month. So hot and sunny wheater and burned plants where I found it.
Maybe some one know the right name of the specie? (thought it's an Hipparchia sp.)
thank you

thank you very much!

one curiosity (I'm not an expert, so sorry for this answer):
could it be an Hipparchia fagi ?
I say it looking the more similar texture of the posterior wings in one my book, but maybe it have diffewrent "yellow eye" on the wings and size is major
(hard looking just a pic, i know Grin )
thank you again

No!!! It's very, very clearly H. statilinus. H. fagi is mistakable with H. alcyone, but never with H. statilinus, very different!

No!!! It's H. statilinus, or maybe an unknown species not present in my country, but not H. fagi. The H. fagi is mistakable with H. alcyone, but never with H. statilinus, very different!
