Anotrher prey of S.stercoraria. ac widely separated with numerous hairs between, centre of scutellum bare, t3 with apical pv as long as 1/2 of av, 6mm

Nikita: You're right. On checking some specimens I noticed that the anterior lower katepisternal seta is longer than the posterior lower seta, an unusual arrangement in Anthomyiidae. H. partita larvae feed on deer dung only, not on other species according to Graham Griffiths. Your specimen is just about to lay an egg. A great photo, showing the plumose arista of Hylemya, all in focus. |
