Well I think this is a male Hermetia illucens. I have looked through the gallery and the images there of females are very similar except the windows are smaller and duller. According the Fauna Europaea there is only the one species of Hermetia in Europe, but if it is wrong I hope somebody will tell me so. It was caught in a Yellow Pan (10-13/08/2008) from the edge of a marsh, amongst sedges and near reeds. The site is of course Wetland Kerkini northern Greece.
